On Friday the 10th of November 2019, NDDC flagged off “Free Medical Outreach” for Eket Senatorial Zone after completing that of Ikot Ekpene LGA at COTTAGE HOSPITAL, Ukana, Essien Udim LGA and Uyo Senatorial District at MODEL PRIMARY HEALTH CENTRE at Mbiokporo 1, Nsit Ibom LGA.
The Services includes free eye services, surgical services, gynaecological checking, surgeries with free medical tests and drugs.
The outreach held in two centres respectively in two Senatorial Districts of Akwa Ibom State. It started in Ikot Ekpene senatorial district at Ukana – Essien Udim LGA before moving to Uyo Senatorial District at Mbiokporo Nsit 1.
Over 160 surgeries were successfully carried out in the two senatorial districts and over 4000 patients were successfully treated of various ailments such as malaria, diarrhea, typhoid fever etc.
ARRDEC emphasized that the Free Medical Mission in Eket Senatorial Zone will treat more people to strengthen the primary healthcare.
The people of Mkpat Enin LGA appreciated NDDC for reducing the burden of health challenges and pledged to support and cooperate effectively.
An unexpected number of over 4000 people have been treated, due to the high number of patients that trooped in for the free medical services, the 5pm timeline wasn’t followed.
NDDC have positively impact the Niger Delta and ARRDEC have implemented it compassionately.
