The international coordinator of My Brother Is My Brother, a non governmental organization and a United States of America based social worker, Mr. Zion Umoh has offered scholarship to a young Akwa Ibom girl whose leg was amputated.
Umoh, on his facebook page on Friday October 11,2019, also made the promise to sponsor the education of the girl from primary school to university level.
He however thanked the Akwa Ibom State government headed by Gov.Udom Emmanuel and Akwa Ibom State Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) publicity secretary,Barr. Ini Ememobong for the provision of crutches and two sets of school uniforms to the amputated pupil.
“I’ve been told that Comrade Ini Ememobong and Governor Udom Emmanuel empowered this little one leg girl with two sets of Uniforms and new walking crutches.
“I want to sincerely appreciate them so much for their support but for the love I have for charity, humanity and Akwa Ibom State Government, I have decided to get this little girl a silicone leg prosthesis that will replace the amputated part of the leg to help her walk by herself without the crutches”
According to Zion Umoh, a philanthropist from Abak LGA, “the artificial leg can be worn before the knee or after the knee and it can be easily taken off.”
In his words, “her school tuitions from Primary School, Secondary School and University will be handled by me and my NGO ( My Brother is My Brother).”
Umoh, a US based humanist directed the parents, relatives and the school authority the amputee is attending to reach him on whatsapp via +2349028508812, for proper arrangement.
