Tantrums Of Politically Disorderly Persons, PDP

The Governorship Elections Petitions Tribunal shall deliver judgement in the petition brought before it by Mr. Nsima Ekere and APC on Thursday, September 19, 2019.

Mr. Ekere and the APC had sued Governor Udom Emmanuel, PDP and INEC over the outcome of the March 9, 2019 Governorship election in Akwa Ibom State.

Mr. Nsima Ekere and his party have embraced and opened up to possibilities provided by law in approaching the Election Petitions Tribunal to ventilate grievances which have turned out to be real and evidentially weighty despite the reprimand and castigation from the PDP, their Traditional Rulers counterparts and the under arm tactics of INEC led by the now serially discredited Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Mike Igini.

It is the “OnlyGod” crooners who have lived in denial of reality by frittering away the common patrimony of Akwa Ibom people through its rigging machine at the polls to perpetuate itself illegitimately in office and thereby continuing to mortgage the yearnings and aspirations of our people.

The Tribunal offers hope of Justice and a new beginning for us all. That’s the possibility we look forward to in the hours ahead as the Tribunal prepares to deliver its judgement in the Petition filed by the APC and Nsima Ekere.

The latest irresponsible scaremongering by agents of PDP in accusing the APC of plots to cause mayhem at the venue of the Tribunal must be condemned and discountenanced in its entirety.

While the PDP continues to be fixated with romancing with the names of notable APC gladiators, we consider it insolence of the highest specie for these infantile outbursts against the APC and its members and caution them to tidy up their handover notes preparatory to exiting Government House.

Is it not strange that a party that has been mostly robbed is also the most riled against? Is the PDP no longer confident of victory at the Tribunal? Have the tables turned or the nocturnal deals have refused to yield fruits?

We reaffirm our support and confidence in a judiciary that is free from external interference. We believe in a judiciary that is courageous and can speak truth to power.

The journey to an improved electoral experience starts with a non-partisan electoral umpire. Not the type populated by ‘sons of men’ and politically aligned persons.
